CM: Furlani and Moncada prepare bid for Portuguese defender – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have the signing of a new right-back high on their list of summer priorities and they are preparing a big for Lille’s Tiago Santos, a report claims.

We were the first to report Santos’ name back in April, stating that the management are looking for a new right-sided defender and that a verbal bid of €12m had been made. Since then, confirmations regarding out story have followed from various sources.

According to Calciomercato.com, the imminent arrival of Paulo Fonseca as the new head coach will accelerate things because he wants a strong right-back and not just a simple alternative to the captain Calabria.

Looking beyond the lower costs compared to Spurs’ Emerson Royal, the Portuguese coach has indicated Santos as the ideal reinforcement given that he made 43 appearances under him for Les Dogues, with three goals and two assists to his name.

Lille paid €6.5m to sign him from Estoril just 12 months ago and are now looking at the possibility of making an excellent capital gain. Milan meanwhile to try to speed up the process, with Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic preparing a bid.

The structure should be as follows: €10m fixed base plus €2-3m bonuses plus a future resale percentage in favour of the Ligue 1 side. It could be the latest instalment of what is a very hot axis between the two clubs.

        1. So you’re implying Li’s Milan still had that precious DNA and the banter era didn’t exist and we’re actually worse now than then? 😀 😀 😀

      1. No the true DNA, why pushing hard for Ligue 1 players, while there plenty one evolving in Serie A, young talented and within our reach and far way better than the moncada Moneyball players

        1. @Sam this is not Milan doing, but idiotic Italian government rules. Government gives significant tax reduction for workers relocating to Italy. And if we are talking about huge salaries for football players, this make a really huge difference, because clubs like Milan can simply offer players more “to hand” while paying less gross.

That’s for example why Maldini signed Origi instead of Belotti, and also likely that’s why Fonseca’s arrival at Milan will be delayed (although not sure in this case as he already worked in Italy). But here’s your response why Italian clubs would prefer signing talent from outside Italy.

  1. A) it’s a shît deal for Milan. B) we dont even need another rb.

If we’re buying Jimenez why buy yet another rb? If Jimenez is not good enough to play for Milan then don’t buy him. Its a waste of money

    1. Who do you trust to start at RB next season? Calabria? Kalulu? The mystery that is Terra? Florenzi?

Just feels like these are all alternatives to a true starter that we don’t yet have. Like a “Theo” on the RT, you know?

For example, I would start DiLorenzo on the RT over Calabria at this point. (not a popular opinion)

      1. Clabria, Florenzi, Kalulu, Terraciano, Jimenez how many do we need? Even Alexis can play there

As the turtle says, give Jimenez room to develop or else why sign him? He is a very talented lad who needs time and opportunities, or else we will see him explode elsewhere

Also I’d love to see Kalulu as our RB, he is a class player, hopefully next season he can put his injury behind him

  2. Why percentage on future sales….. after bonus.
Milan has fialed to include this options while selling their own young talented players. They let them go for cheap
