CM: Future of Roma star uncertain amid temptation from Milan and UCL football – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s future at Roma is still uncertain and the possibility of playing in the Champions League with Milan next season could become concrete.

As Calciomercato.com writes, the Armenian winger was in Trigoria and spoke at length with Roma director Tiago Pinto while his agent Mino Raiola was present, and the 32-year-old has not yet communicated the willingness to exercise the automatic contract renewal option.

He has a week to sign or his deal will have expired, and he has asked for 48 hours to reflect and make a decision. After the game against Spezia he said the following: “I still have one week, anything can happen: I have to analyse things very well, I’m 32 and every choice can be decisive. I haven’t heard from Mourinho yet.”

Mkhitaryan is likely to speak with Mourinho before making a decision but he is tempted to stay in Rome where he and his family feel very happy, but on the other hand he wants more guarantees both in terms of salary and duration of the contract as he has asked for at least two years at €3m net.

The possibility of playing in the Champions League – maybe with Milan – is tempting too, but at the moment staying at Roma seems the most likely scenario.
