AC Milan currently have just one centre-back available, with four on the sidelines, and thus need to make at least one reinforcement in January. In addition to recalling Matteo Gabbia, they could bring in an Arsenal defender.
The likes of Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer, Marco Pellegrino and Malick Thiaw are currently on the injury list, leaving just Fikayo Tomori at Stefano Pioli’s disposal. Theo Hernandez has been forced to play in the centre recently and it’s clear that this situation is far from ideal.
In January, as reported by Calciomecato.com, Milan thus intend to bring in at least one centre-back. The first concrete hypothesis is recalling Matteo Gabbia, and talks are already underway with Villarreal to cut the season-long loan short.
In addition to the Primavera product, Milan have also set their sights on Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior. The former Serie A man has played just 478 minutes this season and the Rossoneri want to sign him on loan with an option to buy.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal will accept this formula, but the feeling is that some serious convincing could be needed to get it over the line. As for Gabbia, everything will depend on Villarreal although there is optimism.

All I’m gonna say is why not using simic? Or barteseghi as CB gabbia many times he was brought in he didn’t do much . Also kiwior isn’t even playing for arsenal so why the loan? Really this management can’t brought anyone useful even if they overbudget one time we need it . And only brought cheap deals and bad to mediocre players like pls leave brokebird we should have went with Bahrain people we would have money for anyone and we good scouts we could pay 20m for real talents not musah or kiwior

Gabbia has always been reliable and solid, so is a no brainer to bring back, has never let us down and should never have been sent away in the first place, replacing him with a cheap import was idiotic
Kiwior – absolutely. Gabbia? Best to leave him on loan so he can develop. Isn’t that why we have Simic and Bastiraghi? We were told by management that we didn’t need to sign anyone else in summer because they were ready which is why we let Gabbia leave on loan and didn’t get a back up to Theo in the first place – cause both were ready to contribute. What happened Georgie boy??? Didn’t the moneyball statistics work???
Exactly this! We offloaded Fode Balo because the idea of management and coach working in perfect harmony was that Bartesaghi was ready to deputized for Theo. Now Theo has basically played all the games with no rest. Just like Tomori. So I’ll forgive them when they play badly. The need a fcking rest which was supposed to come from their supposed backups but are not trusted by the coach…..the original one who thought all of this was ok if what they’ve told us in the summer was correct
If Gabbia comes back I’m sure he’ll get injured too
