CM: Gallardo offered to Milan – the response and the most likely next step

Marcelo Gallardo’s name has been linked with AC Milan over the past 24 hours as his exit from Al Ittihad seems to be imminent, but a report has clarified the situation.

A report from Sky last night claimed that Milan are thinking about Gallardo, who made history with River Plate but is now in the Saudi Pro League with Al Ittihad, a club he is about to leave.

Calciomercato.com confirm that the 48-year-old will be leaving his current team and that the parties are working at a contractual level to dissolve all ties and settle the entire (and expensive) economic issue.

Could a move to Milan be on the cards? In the chaos of contacts that have taken place during the process within the Rossoneri, his name was also proposed by intermediaries to the club.

However, he is not considered an ideal candidate by the management contrary to the report from Sky. Napoli were also among the clubs that took him into consideration, but according to the Argentine press the most likely hypothesis is a return ‘home’.

Indeed, the feeling is that he will go back to River Plate but this time no longer as a head coach. Gallardo dreams of entering the political sphere and could be a strong candidate for Los Millionarios’ presidential elections.

  1. Gallardo has won a lot in South America including being the continents best coach on multiple occasions, but I’m not quite sure he’s a good fit. He was an interesting player in his day, former ligue 1 player of the season when that league used to be stronger, before the fall of Marseille and Lyon. He was a joy to watch. This is to be taken with a pinch of salt however, these do seem to be baseless rumours.

  2. What’s the difference between him and de zerbi? He won in a South American league and has failed in the Saudi league, yet to coach in Europe. But people still want him because he plays attractive football

    1. The difference is the South American leagues like the Argentine and Brazilian leagues are ranked much higher than some European leagues. Brazilian Serie A is a Top 10 League in World football and during the 2010′ s was actually ranked higher than our league. South America is no joke. Outside of the Champions League the Copa Libertadores is the most prestigious tournament in world football. And yes he has done a lot better than De Zerbi. River Plate is the 29th ranked club in world football. Brighton is ranked 57th, and Sassuolo 357th. We are ranked 17th, River Plate isn’t that far behind us. So yes it matters. As stated before Brighton and Sassuolo are minnows in world football, just because you have a big bank balance doesn’t mean your club is a good club.

  3. This is hilarious

Let me guess whichever coach accepts the cheapest salary is the one we will sign lol

    Embarrassing

  4. No we don’t need Gallardo instead let’s allow Pioli for next season since Pioli has now improved in terms of team play or rather still get conceido

    1. How can someone still be suggesting we keep Pioli..are u not tired of dis useless cycle…. Winning minnows and feeling like king kong but faltering when it matters most…. If and when u get ur own club , u can hire Pioli..we are tired of mediocrity
