CM: How Milan should line-up in Berlusconi Trophy vs. Monza

AC Milan will take on Monza in the Silvio Berlusconi Trophy on Tuesday night in what is the last pre-season friendly before the real action begins.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Paulo Fonseca needs to think very carefully about what players he uses against the Brianzoli as he wants to test players and build their fitness, whilst also avoiding any injuries to players he wants to use against Torino.

The season gets underway for Milan on Saturday against Torino and he will already have a good idea of what the starting eleven will look like.

He also needs to test the fitness of new players like Strahinja Pavlovic and Alvaro Morata, whilst there is a chance that Emerson Royal could be available to appear from the bench.

The general expectation is that Fonseca will treat it like a competitive match and give his best players a chance to work together and gel before the Torino match.

That means big hitters like Morata, Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic and Theo Hernandez should all be in action from the first whistle. Pavlovic is also expected to start.

Substitutions will likely be frequent and happen early in the game, but he may choose to give some players a full 90 minutes to see how they react.

Milan probable XI: (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Pavlovic, Hernandez; Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Morata.

Monza probable XI: (3-4-2-1): Sorrentino; Izzo, Mari, Caldirola; Birindelli, Pessina, Sensi, Kyriakopoulos; Maldini, Mota; Petagna.

    1. I think RLC will be on the bench in favor of Chukwueze. RLC will sub in for Bennacer if this is the starting lineup.

But I highly doubt Chukwueze will be on the bench.
