It isn’t all bad news for Milan after the heavy defeat against Atalanta last night. In addition to still being at the top of the standings, Mario Mandzukic made his debut for the club and had a positive impact.
The Croatian striker was announced earlier this week and had made just a few training sessions with his new teammates ahead of the game. With 20 minutes left on the clock, he came off the bench and did well, almost grabbing a goal straight away.
He also showed that he can coexist with Zlatan Ibrahimovic tactically, as both remained on the pitch for the entire game. Mandzukic covered the right flank and moved into the box whenever Milan were in possession.
Above all though, as highlighted by Calciomercato.com, he showed that he’s in good physical shape despite not playing for several months. Against Inter, therefore, he could play from start, perhaps with or without Ibrahimovic.
