The decision to allow Pierre Kalulu to leave AC Milan has baffled fans, but when considering the Frenchman joined a direct rival, the questions are louder. Today, a report has revealed the reason why the Rossoneri parted with the defender.
When Kalulu shone for Milan, he shone. During the Scudetto season, he showed his best qualities, but after struggling with injury, the Diavolo have rarely seen the player perform at his best level. Nevertheless, he was a fantastic option to have.
During pre-season, Fonseca reportedly tested him at right-back – adding extra quality to the player – and whilst Emerson Royal eventually joined the club, he still could have played an important rotational role.
Furthermore, he still offered great coverage centrally, but some may have argued that the defence would have been bloated if he had stayed during the summer. Regardless of coverage, Milan decided that a move away would be the best thing for all parties, even if Kalulu, like the fans, didn’t see this initially.
The reasoning for the move, according to Calciomercato’s report, is that Ibrahimovic preferred to gamble on Strahinja Pavlovic. Additionally, with the club set to gain a figure close to €22m for his departure, it is not seen as a bad deal.
Nevertheless, Kalulu has featured heavily so far in Turin, and fans are once again left questioning why the Rossoneri allowed him to depart on such favourable terms to the Old Lady. With the Bianconeri’s buy option already being spoken about, Milan may have made a mistake they can’t go back on.
Sure, Kalulu has been injured a lot. But we were lacking on RB and the decision to go for Emerson was horrible. Most of us know that he hasn’t performed well in Tottenham.
But I understand that with the history of injuries that Kalulu has we couldn’t risk depending on him. But why do we take the risk to make Juve better!? Why not another team or even league?
Ibra ballsed up here imo. What’s Pavlovic got to do with right back position when we got Laurel and Hardy playing there? Then again when (if) Kalulu gets another major injury it’ll look like a genius move.

I am starting to think that you are ashamed of being wrong in conversations. You will rather deviate to hoping for an injury instead of admitting that your current management makes poor decisions. Stop trying to be the perfect milan fan. Admit that you were wrong about the management. They are not an upgrade from the previous management.
Instead, focus the mercato on two top players at a time, and avoid making bad moves like Kalulu out, Emerson in…and we’re good to go
Instead of getting Emerson we should have kept Kalulu and instead of getting Pavlovic we should’ve got Hummels for free and renew to Simic. 15+18 that’s 33M€ saved which could’ve been used to get a good quality player.
Also, if they loaned Kalulu because he is injury prone, then why did they keep Bennacer (whom I like) who is even more injury prone and ended up being injured during the international break ?
We should’ve sold Bennacer during the summer and with the 33M€ I mentioned we could’ve gotten Ricci and perhaps a deputy for Theo.
