CM: Ibrahimovic will choose Milan’s next head coach and he has a favourite

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in the market for a new head coach and there is one name that appeals in particular appeals to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com recall the names that have been linked with the Milan job: Antonio Conte, Thiago Motta, Roberto De Zerbi, Julen Lopetegui, Paulo Fonseca, Christophe Galtier, Marcelo Gallardo, Sergio Conceiçao and Marco Rose.

There are nine candidates to coach Milan, all reported either yesterday or today. The tenth is Mark van Bommel, who is a man that is well known to the Rossoneri given that he was a part of the Scudetto-winning side in 2010-11.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will choose the next head coach of Milan, as per the report, and he knows that there is no room for making a mistake given that the post-Pioli era has an obligation to bring success and trophies.

Ibrahimovic would like Van Bommel, the Dutchman who was his team-mate in 2011. However, his career as a player doesn’t count for anything when it comes to management and the Swede knows that.

Van Bommel made his way through the coaching ranks, starting with Netherlands U17 assistant in 2013, the continuing with being Saudi Arabia assistant and PSV U19 manager.

He was Australia’s assistant, then PSV head coach, Wolfsburg head coach and joined Antwerp in 2022, winning the league and cup double last season.

  1. I’d take him over the likes of Conte and Sarri. That’s for damn sure. His attachment to the club helps a little, but it’ll wait to be seen if he’d be able to translate that into form like we’ve seen him pull out in Belgium. At the very least, he’s bring a winning mentality and new ideas, no more of this old school boring football we see from guys like pioli and Conte. Would still rather see us push for someone ambitious though like de zerbi or even Tuchel since he’ll be free end of season

        1. Did Motta molest you or something? There are 10+ coaches being linked to our bench and you can’t stop picking on Motta.

        2. I see you have noticed Motta’s bright destiny, but it chokes you so much that you can’t stop having dreams about him.

So you must type your usual poetry that makes no sense.

    1. A former Milan winner as coach is important. Winners bring you good luck which often is necessary in football. I hope the new coach will switch back to twin strike rather than 1 striker. 3412

  2. Maybe except for Conte who needs to stay as far away from our club as possible – neither of the rest can gurantee a top 4 finish in serie A – let alone a scudetto or CHL thats for sure!

  3. Click bait for sure…
No way we’d go for someone that inexperienced. If we wanted to do that, then Pirlo would be a better choice

  5. Stick With Pioli and make sure you have good physical training coach, improve your medical center, no coach is the problem here.

  6. Why is all the critics towards yhe coach? What are the responsibilities of the players? Why is Leao paid higher and when the team needs him he is no where to be seen?

    1. As to the first part of your comment, here is a possible answer: It’s very hard to change 11 players when they fail vs. changing one coach when he fails.

As to Leao, great question. Some people here, like Juro, were baying for a contract extension at any cost. But if he loses a freestyle battle he doesn’t show up for the game.

  7. Since we’re being linked to managers like van Bommel, I’d like to volunteer another “rando” that nobody seems to be considering: Enzo Maresca. And he plays 4-3-3, btw.

    1. I would take Xabi Alonso. Guy is smart and he is a winner, a champion.
I like Van Bommel but is Milan in better hands than Pioli? Holland and Belgium is not serie a caliber. Huge gamble.

I hope we get proven champions and not the discount version or burnt out guys.

Conte seems a strong choice but I think we need a guy who is coming off a winning season. Someone who inspires confidence
Xabi is the best choice if possible.
