CM.it: This season may be Ibrahimovic’s last before retirement – what could be next for the Swede

By Oliver Fisher -

There is a very concrete possibility that this season will be Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s last in professional football, according to a report.

After 98 appearances and 67 goals with the Milan shirt plus 835 appearances and 502 goals in a decorated career, Ibrahimovic’s 25th season as a player will begin against Lazio on Sunday night as he has fully recovered from the knee operation he had in June.

The Swede will turn 40 on 3 October, and Calciomercato.it writes that the possibility that after this season there may be a farewell to football is concrete. The people closest to Ibra respond with the classic ‘no comment’ or the slightly more articulate ‘we can’t talk about it now’ when asked about what lies ahead for Zlatan.

The report mentions how the Sanremo Festival has paved a path that had already been traced and the new movie about his career shows that a career on the big stage may be ahead. It will only be up to Zlatan to decide, but in the meantime Stefano Pioli can enjoy his abilities as a player for at least another 9 months.
