CM: Jovic hoping for Milan debut in the derby – he has hurt Inter before

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan managed to get the signing of Luka Jovic over the line in the nick of time, and now he is preparing to make his debut for his new clubs.

As Calciomercato.com recall, the signing of Jovic was closed so late that it was actually made official after the transfer window closed, but the contract had of course been deposited in time so it all went through fine.

After coming on at the end of Serbia’s match against and remaining on the bench against Lithuania, Jovic is expected at Milanello to start working with his new team-mates soon.

Stefano Pioli’s starter is Olivier Giroud and the coach hopes he will recover from the ankle problem sustained with France, but if he doesn’t make it then Jovic is warming up. He could also come on during the match, though.

Giroud’s condition will be monitored day by day and if he is not fit enough to play then Jovic will battle with Noah Okafor for his spot. Some indications may therefore arrive regarding who will be the Frenchman’s replacement during the season.

Jovic has already made an impression at San Siro wearing the Eintracht Frankfurt shirt against Inter. It was back in the 2018-19 season – in the round of 16 of the Europa League – when he scored the goal that knocked the Nerazzurri out.
