CM: Jovic at risk as Moncada works on two striker signings – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management are weighing up what to do regarding Luka Jovic, a report claims, because they could welcome two signings for the striker role.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are getting ever closer to the finish line in the negotiations over Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch forward wants to join Milan, where he would form an attacking trident with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic under Paulo Fonseca.

Fonseca – who will be Milan’s new coach officially starting from Wednesday, when the announcement is expected – could welcome not only Zirkzee but also another centre-forward from the summer mercato.

Armando Broja will face Italy in the next European Championship in Germany before having the opportunity to land in Serie A. He is a concrete idea for Milan as a potential back-up to Zirkzee, as per the report.

The 22-year-old could leave Chelsea for the Rossoneri as several players have done before them, but it remains to be understood via what formula. Contacts between the parties have been going on for several days.

An alternative idea goes by the name of Kevin Denkey, a striker for Cercle Bruges who scored 28 goals last season. All this of course will not be music to the ears of Jovic, who was hoping to have had positive indications regarding a renewal by now.

The Serbian striker seemed one step away from extending with Milan, but now things seem to have changed. Deep reflections are underway within the management on whether or not to keep him, with Fonseca part of the consultations.

    1. He has 3 goals in 2 seasons. He is back from cruciate ligament tear. He got 2 nasty injury in 2 years. He can’t nail down a place in Fulham(!)

Is that not enough red flag for you?

He was an interesting talent like 2 years ago,as he has physique that matches top striker criteria. But now? He is still 22 but with all those setback it will take him a long time, 2-3 season to get back to pace. That’s if he play regularly. But as back up? Not so keen.

  1. Jovic, who scored almost double digits in Serie A with VERY limited minutes and is free or Broja scored massive 2 goals in almost 30 matches in the UK and has zero experience in Serie A and costs something like 20-30M€? Yeah, looks like a no-brainer to anyone with a brain actually.

    1. Jovic got no resell value..guess that’s eating at them. Broja ofc will flop and donkey is a donkey.

Might as well use origi as backup, or lazetic, nasti even Colombo

  2. Why Broja’s name is appearing again? If you are capable of scoring 1 goal a season — then you are worth is 1 million.

  3. Hopefully, all these news stories about Broja are because Chelsea 100% need to sell several players to stay within FFP, and Broja has been earmarked with a big “For Sale” sign and put out into the main shopping venue.
Knowing Milan are looking for a Giroud replacement, Chelsea is desperately lobbying for Milan to buy Broja.
So, trying to stay friendly with the Boehly Clown Car, Milan is taking a look and kicking the tires on Armando Broja.

But really, now, it shouldn’t be hard to see that Broja is a huge risk with his injury history and is going to be priced way too high, and that he will NOT be an improvement over Jovic. And of course, Jovic is free, is a proven goal scorer in Serie A, and would be more than happy to stay in Milan.

So, hopefully, Milan are just doing Boehly a solid by taking a look at Broja, and hopefully will do the obvious thing and pass on him. And this is all just news media smoke being generated by Chelsea.

  4. I highly doubt Milan wants Broja. I think this is fake news being pushed by agents and Chelsea media outlets.

Zirkzee seems likely to arrive at this point but if Milan go for another striker it will be someone with more experience than Zirkzee. Someone who has Champions League experience.

Artem Dovbyk is a possible idea but I doubt he will arrive only if we don’t get Zirkzee because Dovbyk price will be closer to 35-40m and not 20m.

So, I think Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla is a viable option since he will cost less than Dovbyk.
