CM: Kessie is no longer untouchable at Milan – Atalanta exclusion makes sense

By Isak Möller -

Franck Kessie has struggled at the start of the season and it seems he will be benched tonight, as Milan will take on Atalanta. Despite playing less mid-week, the Ivorian has been dropped by Stefano Pioli.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, the manager has opted to go with Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali in the midfield tandem for tonight’s game. Taking the last few games into consideration, this makes a lot of sense.

Bennacer was absolutely fantastic against Atletico Madrid and Tonali has gone from strength to strength this season, now a pillar of the midfield. Furthermore, Kessie is experiencing a tough moment between poor condition and an uncertain future.

It’s also clear, however, that the growth of Tonali and Bennacer’s return to the top again has raised the bar in the midfield. Kessie is no longer untouchable in the starting XI and will have to work harder for his spot.

  1. Great news! Let him rust/decay on the bench! We don’t need him! We least expected is prolonged contractual agreement. He’s disappointed many of us. Kessie, u ain’t one of us anymore!

  2. Let us not forget what kessie have done for us last season, him alone carry our team, this is the time to show him love and leave the rest for our management.
