CM: Kessie’s renewal preoccupying Milan – the talks will reveal Elliott’s true intentions

The Franck Kessie renewal situation will reveal the true intentions of owners Elliott Management, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com writes how Kessie will partake in the upcoming Olympics with the Ivory Coast, scheduled in Tokyo from 22 July to 8 August, meaning he will miss the gathering for preseason in one week next Thursday at Milanello. Milan of course could not oppose, just as they cannot oppose his upcoming commitments in the African Cup of Nations too.

What worries most is the renewal of his contract expiring on 30 June 2022, because the start of the negotiations has shades of the Donnarumma and Calhanoglu talks. Kessie currently receives €2.2m net per season and wants €6m, but the owners Elliott Management are willing to go to €4m at the moment.

Milan should move quickly, because there are many who follow Kessie closely, especially from abroad and in particular Arsenal. Kessie is a worrying case for three reasons: for the present because he will arrive late for preseason, and for the future of Milan.

It will be an important indication to understand what the owners intend, because one thing is the blackmail of agents and another is being so rigid in their stance that the club will lose players on a free transfer. There is time, but words must become concrete actions.
