CM: Kjaer close to extending contract with Milan – the details of his imminent agreement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are close to being able to announce the renewal of centre-back Simon Kjaer, according to a report.

According to Calciomercato.com, the extension of the contract between Milan and Kjaer is in the pipeline as the Danish centre-back – as reported by sources close to the player – will sign a one-year extension soon.

It is expected that the 32-year-old will extend his contract until 30 June 2023 with an option for an extra year, with a salary increase from €1.2m net per season to €1.5m per season as a reward for his status as a leader of the team.

Kjaer arrived amid some initial scepticism after having a loan spell with Atalanta from Sevilla terminated early, but deciding to move to their Lombardy rivals has leased new life into his career as he has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the league and an experienced presence both on and off the pitch.
