CM: The latest on Adli, Pobega and Vranckx as Pioli opts for Bakayoko

By Isak Möller -

One of the big surprises of the last few games is that Tiemoue Bakayoko has been getting the chance more and more. After previously being completely out of the AC Milan project, this has raised quite a few questions.

Prior to his cameo against Monza, Bakayoko hadn’t made an appearance for Milan since the Atalanta game of last season in May. It came as a surprise when he was brought on yet again last night, therefore, getting over 20 minutes against Fiorentina.

According to Calciomercato.com, this has understandably resulted in quite a few questions regarding the future of the Frenchman. He still appears likely to leave, and the buy-out clause will only be activated after 15 45-minute appearances, but he has climbed the pecking order.

Tommaso Pobega and Aster Vranckx both remained on the bench and the Belgian is now expected to stay past this season. Milan paid €2m for the loan and the buy-out option is set at €12m, a fee the Rossoneri are not inclined to invest.

Pobega, meanwhile, had plenty of requests in January but Milan turned them all down, only for him to make two appearances in the last seven games. It remains to be seen what will happen in the summer.

Finally, Yacine Adli was signed for €8-10m but he has found no space under Pioli. He got seven minutes against Fiorentina and managed a hockey assist, but who knows what will happen in the next few games.

  1. Well it’s easy. Slowbega is too slow and crap. Adli is a hybrid bur he did come on and played well as a CAM. And Bakayoko doesn’t make Vranckx-like mistakes. Bakayoko is actually a very good player on his day and to be fair he has been great when he has come on as a sub so why not use him.

    1. “Slowbega is too slow and crap”

Like CDK is fast as a lightning. 😀 😀 😀
And Pobega has already scored two goals with very minimal minutes.

      1. Lol no I didn’t say CDK was fast either. I’ll concede that Pobega for whatever reason runs into attacking spaces well. Otherwise Cecil the Turtle can give him a run for his money 😂

    1. Most of the certified transfer analysts/experts here think 29 is way too old. And probably “injury prone” and “too slow” too. 🙂

  2. Sell Poegba to Torino for Singo and we have Theo on the Left and Singo on right with Kalulu-Thiaw-Tomori back 3. We don’t play him anyways. Personally think he’s overrated. How can we make a decision on Aster and Adli without giving them a chance to play lol. Adli has shown no less if no more than CDK in his limited minutes . OF our policy is investing in youth to avoid paying huge fees for established players – THEN you must be patient with them and give them time to develop – otherwise what is the fkn point. How can you decide on such a young player if they are never given the opportunity? Are you going to replace him with another young unproven player next season? the same thing will happen. And Start the cycle all over again. Terrible

  3. Did you all forget what happened after fielding Vrancx vs Roma? Roma didn’t even have a single shot on target until 87′ and suddenly he made a ridiculous and unnecessary foul, resulting in the freekick that led to their first goal.

Then our morale crumbled for the whole January.

I am not saying that Vrancx would make the same mistakes that led to such series of disastrous events again, but maybe, Pioli is a superstitious man, and probably he just wanna avoid that situation again..
