CM: The latest on Adli, Pobega and Vranckx as Pioli opts for Bakayoko

One of the big surprises of the last few games is that Tiemoue Bakayoko has been getting the chance more and more. After previously being completely out of the AC Milan project, this has raised quite a few questions.

Prior to his cameo against Monza, Bakayoko hadn’t made an appearance for Milan since the Atalanta game of last season in May. It came as a surprise when he was brought on yet again last night, therefore, getting over 20 minutes against Fiorentina.

According to Calciomercato.com, this has understandably resulted in quite a few questions regarding the future of the Frenchman. He still appears likely to leave, and the buy-out clause will only be activated after 15 45-minute appearances, but he has climbed the pecking order.

Tommaso Pobega and Aster Vranckx both remained on the bench and the Belgian is now expected to stay past this season. Milan paid €2m for the loan and the buy-out option is set at €12m, a fee the Rossoneri are not inclined to invest.

Pobega, meanwhile, had plenty of requests in January but Milan turned them all down, only for him to make two appearances in the last seven games. It remains to be seen what will happen in the summer.

Finally, Yacine Adli was signed for €8-10m but he has found no space under Pioli. He got seven minutes against Fiorentina and managed a hockey assist, but who knows what will happen in the next few games.
