CM: Leao a key player but Milan showcase great depth with attacking points

By Isak Möller -

Despite his goalscoring issues in the league, Rafael Leao has been a key player for Milan’s attack this season. A fairly easy prediction to make ahead of it, but the Rossoneri have also showcased an impressive depth that perhaps not many expected.

One of Milan’s main issues in the last few years has been the over-reliance on a few players for goalscoring. As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, however, this has not been the case this season as the Rossoneri truly have had depth up front.

Olivier Giroud leads the line with 14 goals and 9 assists, while Rafael Leao has made great strides in the last few weeks and now stands at 9 goals and 10 assists. Christian Pulisic is next with 9 goals and 7 assists, while Ruben Loftus Cheek has made the most of his No.10 role with 8 goals and 2 assists.

For a team like Milan, you would expect figures like these for the starters in attack. Having said that, the likes of Luka Jovic (8 goals, 1 assist) and Noah Okafor (5 goals, 1 assist) have a great chance of also reaching double figures. It would be the first that so many Milan players have hit that target in several years.

In short, while Leao and Giroud remain two figures in attack, Milan have improved their squad with the signings made this summer.
