CM: Leeds United star hoping to secure Italy return – Milan and Fiorentina enquire

AC Milan have made an enquiry over the possibility of signing Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United, according to a report.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, the possibility of returning to Italy is heating up for Gnonto, especially after Leeds’ relegation to the Championship from the Premier League in 2022-23.

Monza tried to bring him back to Italy before Leeds managed to sign him from Zurich for €4.5m with a contract running until June 2027. This season he amassed 28 appearances for England, scoring 4 goals and as many assists.

After they were relegated, Gnonto wants to leave West Yorkshire. Milan and Fiorentina have carried out the first exploratory enquiries and the response was that the 19-year-old has a €20m asking price.

It is a figure considered excessive by both Italian clubs, and under these conditions they are not willing to enter into negotiations. However, with a lower asking price or a possible loan formula, their interest could become more concrete.

Gnonto is one of the few players to have played for Italy without having played in Serie A and he is currently away with the Under 21 national team in Tirrenia in view of the European Championships from 21 June to 8 July in Georgia and Romania.

  1. On loan with option will be a good signing even though I would like to see Chaka Traore and especially Hugo Cuenca be part of the 1st team next season.
Cuenca loo3d good towards the end of the season. Nice left foot

  2. He can also play as a striker. He is a beast in FM23, if only he came close to that in real life, 20M would be a steal.
