CM: Ticket sales for Liverpool game start slowly as pricing structure comes into question

Tickets from the Champions League fixture against Liverpool have gone on sale, and there have been some questions asked about AC Milan’s pricing structure.

As fixtures in continental football go, there are not many that rank higher than Milan-Liverpool, there has been history in this fixture and to see it being played at the start of the condition is certainly a shock. However, the bigger shock has come in regards to the pricing.

Tickets have been slow to sell so far, given the substantial price differences between this Saturday’s fixture against Venezia and the game on Tuesday against Liverpool – a staggering €80 separates some prices.

It, therefore, does not come as a shock that the fixture is yet to sell out, and Calciomercato.com states that there are obvious reasons why. Primarily, there is another week until the fixture and the general sale has only been open since Friday, so a sell-out will be eventually expected.

However, with a questionable pricing structure, and the Rossoneri’s start to the new season it is understandable why fans may not have flocked to get tickets. After all, there have been few positive signs so far, and fans will be reluctant to go deep into their pockets for another sub-par performance.

    1. Came here to say this.

A while back I had a few posts where I spoke to the on field product being the most important aspect ofmaking money in football. That the valuation of the teams players goes down when they are under performing. Thus, investing in keeping good players, signing good players and hiring a top level coach is at the center of profit.

This is the result. No one wants to pay over inflated prices for a team that is likely to lose.

If we were at the top of our game, a lot of fans might pay it. But not in our current form.

  1. Looks like ticket rip off is rife. UEFA has done something about away supporters but they need to set fair standards across the competition.
