CM: Maldini and Massara trying to close deal for Marseille midfielder – four alternative targets

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a list of midfield targets that they are looking at to come in and bolster the department ahead of next season, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com writes, the Milan management are constantly on the move looking for the best solutions to strengthen Pioli’s squad and with the African Cup of Nations running from early January to early February, a new midfielder will be needed as Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer will represent the Ivory Coast and Algeria respectively.

Massara and Maldini are working to sign one or two targets in midfield, with physicality and creativity the main points of the identikit. On the list are the Bologna duo Jerdy Schouten and Mattias Svanberg, Youssouf Fofana from Monaco and Pape Sarr from Metz.

Finally, Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara is highlighted in particular as a possible option given he is ‘very strong technically and tactically’ to the extent he can play as a centre-back or a defensive midfielder. The Rossoneri have been on the player for at least a year and are now ‘trying to close’.
