CM: Maldini at work to complete the Milan squad – the two positions targeted for January

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini is targeting purchases in two areas to help complete Stefano Pioli’s squad, a report claims.

Milan brought in a number of reinforcements during the summer transfer, continuing their trend of counting on young players, with the likes of Sandro Tonali, Brahim Diaz, Jens Petter Hauge and Diogo Dalot all joining.

They are on a fantastic run having not lost in their last 21 fixtures across all competitions and having won 17 of them, but Pioli revealed his belief after Thursday’s 3-1 win over Celtic that the squad are a few pieces away from challenging for trophies.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Milan management have two absolute priorities for the summer window. The first, unsurprisingly, is a central defender after Maldini and Massara failed to sign one in the summer and the defensive depth is being tested at the moment.

The other goal concerns the attack as Milan are looking for a deputy to Ibrahimovic. Rebic and Leao can both play there, but they prefer playing on the left.
