CM: Maldini wants to lock down full-back until 2025 and is willing to offer pay rise

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are ready to reward Davide Calabria for his sensational return to form so far in the 2020-21 season, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com writes, Calabria is certainly Milan’s big surprise this season as many tipped him to be sold during the last summer transfer window, but the full-back kept his head down and worked hard in order to fight for, win back and keep his place.

The 24-year-old has become a pillar of Stefano Pioli’s side, and is repaying the faith of the club having rejected some offers from LaLiga in the summer.

Technical director Paolo Maldini has known and appreciated Calabria since he was a boy in the youth sector, the report adds, and he has every intention of extending the contract of the Primavera graduate which is currently due to expire in 2022.

The idea is a renewal until 2025 with a pay rise on the current €1million net per season he earns, and the figure in mind is €1.6m net. The negotiations go on and the will of the club is to get pen on paper before the summer.
