CM: Man City, PSG and Real Madrid want €50m Milan star – why the management are calm

By Oliver Fisher -

Three of Europe’s top clubs are interested in signing Ismael Bennacer, a report claims, but AC Milan are not worried just yet.

As Calciomercato.com reports, the evolution of Bennacer in the last seven months at Milan is shown perfectly through one stat: in the last season he racked up 14 yellow cards in 31 games, this season he has just one in seven league games.

The intensity he shows is the same, as is the number of balls recovered in midfield, but the 22-year-old has simply improved a lot from a tactical point of view and in terms of his judgement.

The report adds that Bennacer now has the ‘unconditional trust of Stefano Pioli’ and will always play in important games, despite the fact that on the bench there is a talent like Sandro Tonali. With Franck Kessie, the Algerian has formed a close-knit pair and the €16m spent to sign him from Empoli now looks a bargain.

In recent months, there has been talk regarding the €50million release clause that can be activated starting from the summer of 2021. It was a specific request by the entourage of Bennacer and Milan accepted, as it would allow them a capital gain of €40m making it a calculated risk.

It must not be forgotten that the player’s will is even more important when such a clause is involved, and Calciomercato report that Bennacer feels at home currently.

The attention of important clubs such as Manchester City (where he has a great admirer in Guardiola), Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid represent threats, but Maldini and Massara can rest easy with that clause.
