CM: Man Utd loanee Dalot’s Milan debut in numbers – top in two stats and a mission accomplished

By Oliver Fisher -

It was a positive AC Milan debut for Diogo Dalot on Thursday night, one that passed without any major mistakes and some bright spars.

Tuttosport gave the Portuguese full-back a rating of 5.5 out of 10, but La Gazzetta dello Sport were more generous, awarding him a score of 6.

Calciomercato.com provide a more statistical look back at Dalot’s first game in a Milan shirt. They report how he had 96 touches – more than any other player on the pitch – with five interceptions (again the most of any Milan player), three tackles and a blocked shot.

His attacking performance was not quite as impressive as he only attempted three crosses and didn’t really create any clear scoring opportunities.

However, the report adds that head coach Stefano Pioli asked him to perform a very specific role: to contain Diego Laxalt on Celtic’s left flank as much as possible and although the Uruguayan showed glimpses, it was mission accomplished for Dalot.
