After returning from injury, Marco Pellegrino is set to be called up for AC Milan’s fixture against Udinese this weekend. However, there is a possibility he will depart on loan this month to provide him with valuable minutes.
Although Stefano Pioli’s defensive options have been ravaged for months, there is a somewhat surplus of defenders available, which means that the minutes needed for Pellegrino to develop will be limited.
As a result, the Rossoneri will consider the prospect of allowing the Argentine to leave on loan during the January mercato, according to Calciomercato.com. After signing him for €3million from Platenese, the deal was sanctioned with the future in mind, as opposed to him slotting in straight away.
However, with him being called up for the Argentinian National Team, his talent is there to see, which is why there are several clubs interested in his services.
La Liga sides Cadiz and Almeria, Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, and Belgian Pro League side Leuven are interested in taking the youngster on loan until the end of the season. Additionally, an earlier report has suggested that La Liga leaders Girona are interested.
Called it. He’s not up to scratch. At 23, he’s behind the 8 ball for a league like Serie A. My guess is that he never returns to the first team.
The management’s confidence in him will probably determine the structure of his next move. If its a dry loan. Or loan-to-buy with easy to meet targets.
And whether they include a buyback.
Personally, as it seems they’re seriously pressing to sign Buongiourno from Torino, I’d suggest an 18 month loan deal. You never know with regular minutes he might be good, I mean he was legitimately called up by the world champions 🏆
He’s 21, not 23.
Give him time. He’s only played one game for us. One game. As a sub. Not even a single starting game yet. What’s the point of buying young players if we aren’t going to give them the necessary time to grow and develop as players?
Probably the staff noticed is not good enough.
Maybe they could play him? Just a novel idea.
I don’t think we can afford to. We need all the points we can get.
if he need to go, better stay in Italy (serie a/ b) to learn the league esp he’s a defender. he’s Arg Nat team so he must be good/ potential
Why did we sign him in the first place lol. What a waste of $$. Simic is way better. No need for this signing. More waste of $ by Georgio and Moncada
Not sure how anybody can have an opinion when he got i jured in hia only game and just got back…. hes talented, hes positivey been scouted by his nat team… give him time guys relax…
Could’ve had Calafiori for same amount.
Never mind whether he’s good or not, I’m guessing he showed enough to suggest he’s a good prospect at least. But he’s an example of players we signed when we didn’t need to. Seems to happen under every Milan leadership/ownership
