CM: Mendes at work on Taremi-Milan deal as Porto plot how to spend the money

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s attempts to sign Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto are continuing throughout the day and Jorge Mendes is involved, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com reports that Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are in direct contact with intermediary Jorge Mendes, aent Daria and the management of Porto to try to close the arrival of Taremi.

The position of Porto’s president Pinto Da Costa – who was asking for €25-30m – has softened slightly, while Andrea Petagna’s move from Monza to Cagliari could be an indication things are about to unlock because Lorenzo Colombo might replace him at the U-Power Stadium, implying Milan are about to replace Colombo in turn.

In Porto, on the other hand, supporters are growing frustrated about the long-running saga as on stated on social media: “He’s no longer thinking about Porto, he’s thinking about Milan. He’s finishing an era but it’s right to let him go, also because he takes away the job of those who are more concentrated.”

Porto have already taken concrete steps to replace the Iranian by plotting to spend the money they would receive. No centre-forwards would arrive because they consider Evanilson, Toni Martines plus the rising young Danny Namaso as enough.

However, two profiles identified are Ivan Jaime and Bitello, the former being a winger and the latter an attacking midfielder.

    1. This is how news circles work. An outlet releases something, everyone else picks it up and posts it. It’s all speculation, but it gives you an indication of whats in the works.

If outlets only posted concrete news, you’d only read about an article a week. Then everyone would complain that there aren’t enough news.

  1. I like the comments from Porto’s supporters. Let him go, straight to us and hopefully for a reasonable fee. He can be the point of reference when Giroud’s contract runs out next season, allowing Okafor and Colombo to grow behind him. Or we can bring in Jonathan Davids if we can get him on a free next season. That is if the blue side of town don’t usurp him with a ridiculous offer again.

    1. That lot? They’ll be handing over the keys to the trophy cabinet soon enough so I think they’re stuck with Oh-No-tovic until he’s 60. Poor things 😀

      1. Those guys are going down with Chinese at the same time. I like your commment about Arnautobitch 👍 Totally share the sentiment there.

As for Davies, he is Canadian. Will likely be more open to speak to Cardinale and join Musah and Pulisic

  2. It’s obviously up to him but I doubt he wants to come to wait for Giroud to get tired on 75 mins week in week out.

Is the plan to phase him into starting by Christmas and then we wave goodbye to Giroud in June?

The way Terami plays he should still be good well into his 30s so lets get it done!

  3. Is a very inteligent move to buy a striker from Portugal that has 31 years and is in last year of contract with 20m euro, other suckers like Benfica buyed Enzo Fernandez with 10 m than selling with 100,other fouls buyed Julian Alvarez, but we are smart we buy a class player Taremi

    1. So with the other word you want Milan to become Porto, Sporting or Benfica? Or would you rather we comoete with City, Bayer, Real and co? What is it going to be?

You obviously have no idea of how Portuguese footchiboll works do you?

    2. So it’s your dream that we serve to feed the Premier league with talent? Interesting. The day when a Prem team offers Leao silly money will be a big party in your house then.

    3. Whilst you are at, Bayern bought Kane for 100mil. Do you think that is stupid. They know exactly what they want. Buy a ready made player with CL experience to compete with Real, PSG, Barca at CL level. Milan bought wisely for the future, and getting an experienced CF that can hit the ground running will set us on our path to compete on all fronts. There is method to the madness.

  4. I’m loving this. Hope it all works out well. Really love to see him in Milan jerseys. Kudos to the management. They have done brilliantly in this transfer. The team is doing well, ticket and store sales are going up, fans all over the world are excited again. So much has changed with less than €130m spent. Great job! Wishing the whole team a successful season.
