CM: Milan accelerate for Pavlovic – negotiations now well advanced

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan seem to be closing in on their second summer signing as negotiations over Strahinja Pavlovic are now advanced, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com have provided an update this evening which confirms that Milan are well along in talks over a deal for Pavlovic, and they reference the report from the Salzburger Nachrichten yesterday which claimed he is ‘on the verge’ of a €25m move.

He is indeed very close to joining, but the Milan management are actually expected to seal the deal for a figure of around €20m including bonuses, so a few million less than what the sources in Austria have been led to believe. Pavlovic has already said yes to the Rossoneri too.

He arrived in Austria two years ago for €7m from Monaco, who in turn bought him for €10m from Partizan Belgrade in 2020 and then loaned him first to Cercle Bruge in Belgium and then to Basel in Switzerland.

In the last two seasons he has collected 71 appearances for Salzburg, winning an Austrian league title, scoring six goals and providing as many assists with 24 yellow cards and 2 reds. In the senior national team he has 38 appearances (including the three group matches at Euro 2024) with four goals, one assist and 13 yellow cards.

Pavlovic is under contract until June 2027 and earns a salary of around €750k net per year, but Milan are ready to guarantee him double that, therefore a deal worth around €1.5m net and possibly more.

  1. Crazy high number of yellows! Love to see it. We need a beast in defence ready to scare attackers and tackle rough 😍

  2. He looks the part, and definitely has the right physical characteristics. I just wish we would chase after more proven names. To be the clear scudetto candidates we need the best CB, mid, and striker of the league. Our midfield can become really top notch with Fofana and hopefully Rabbiot, but in no way will we have the best CB line with this addition, unless the kid absolutely explodes (which is an unfair demand from him).

    1. Yeah I think most of us would like proven names but Milan has that salary cap and it seems that it also has a transfer fee cap around 20M€. And the management doesn’t care about the Scudetto so they obviously don’t care about having the best cb, midfielder or striker, or coach for that matter.

    2. I remember Milan v inter game, Adriano was playing for Inter, and he was physically destroying Nesta, Maldini and co, they could not cope, thus Stam was sent on and it changed the game.

Now Stam on a technical defensive level is no where near Maldini or Nesta but that day he was the man who saved them, admittedly Pavlovic may not be defensively astute as some defenders but the physicality he brings will make up for it, this guy is in the Stam mould (before the Italian coach’s made him totally tactically aware), we can make this guy world class he needs time, patience and the right coaching.

    3. What’s a proven name anyway? Should we sign Bremer from juve? Im sure 70-80M will get their attention. Or should we sign that declining Varane on a high salary and cross our fingers? At United he earned 11.5M net.

Or does your little self have any input who this proven cb could/should be?

  3. It’s funny how the same people that are asking for Milan to sign “proven names” instead of players like Pavlovic are the same people that want Milan to spend 40-50 mil on unproven players like Calafiori, Boungiorno, Scalvini.

    1. You have a good pont here, Z. They are trying to trash anything coming from the management and even praying that no players brought by the management don’t prove them wrong.

      Milan haters.

    2. Yep – it’s so bizarre (and boring)… If this management bought Gvardiol instead for 80 mil they’d whine all day long that we spent too much on one position.

      1. Seems like there is a shortage of arguments among the Redsht stans these days, it’s only extrapolation and insults. Because all the criticism is not valid of course and you guys the real fans are martyrs. What is more boring bro? “Whining” or winning?

        1. Real fans? And you’re one of them and the rest are not? LOL. Thanks for making my day! 😀 😀 😀

Real fans don’t b’tch and whine every day and insult EVERYTHING the club does. Fans have another name too. Supporters. Are you acting like one? Nope. So STFU with your “real fan”-BS. F’ng ridiculous coming from you.

          1. Understand that this is your own definition of a real fan. Because someone disagrees with you or is upset when the management says we compete for 4th doesn’t mean that someone is an inter troll. Milan is far from any criticism these days and people don’t dance without music, most complaints are valid.

          2. “Milan is far from any criticism these days and people don’t dance without music, most complaints are valid.”

The first part is absolutely true. Most complaints being valid is not.

  4. Sometimes, reading and digesting messages on this platform makes me rethink if people really No much about “FOOTBALL ” THE Management of Milan sees and No more than us. Its better We fans seat, relax and calm till the Season starts. Forza milan

  5. How good is this guy? Does anyone actually know, as in they’ve watched the Austrian league and not just highlights…seems that’s what ppl go off of these days smh 🤦‍♂️
I don’t get the feeling he’s up there…seeing as I haven’t heard another club interested in him

  6. Strahinja Pavlovic defend like a Paolo Maldini : Aggresive, can make challenges in right times, and have pretty good technique to help build up. He is a CB or LB too. Really like a Serbian Paolo Maldini.

But it means we need to sell defenders, and i recommend to sell Pierre Kalulu for Capital gains.
    – Gabbia was our best CB past season (and Club Grown Status for Champions League)
    – Tomori was our best CB for 3 years (But past season too much injured for him)
    – Malick Thiaw has some rooms to be one of the best CB few years to come

  7. “Strahinja Pavlovic defend like a Paolo Maldini”
Je.sus fcking C.hrist 🤦‍♂️ I swear this comment section gets worse each day.
