CM: Milan add Arsenal midfielder to four-man shortlist – Tonali remains the dream

By Isak Möller -

In the summer, AC Milan are expected to make many changes for the good of the club. Ralf Rangnick remains in pole position to replace Stefano Pioli, while his arrival would guarantee movement on the transfer market.

As Calciomercato.com points out, it will be a young squad with low salaries. The signings made will also be investments for the future, and the midfield is one department in need of this.

Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are set to leave in the summer, as their contracts will expire. Franck Kessie wants to stay and the same will happen for Ismael Bennacer, having both impressed in the midfield tandem.

As for Rade Krunic and Lucas Paqueta, on the other hand, they must be further evaluated to determine their future. Finally, Hakan Calhanoglu should receive a contract renewal, but he won’t be considered a midfielder anymore.

In short, Milan are in need of at least one top midfielder: young but already experienced to lead a team from the middle. The dream, as the report continues, is Sandro Tonali but the competition of Inter and Juventus is fierce.

It’s an operation that won’t be easy on an economic level, just like the potential one for Eduardo Camavinga. The 17-year-old Rennes midfielder has also attracted the interest of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Arsenal.

The Rossoneri have once again added Lucas Torreira to their wish list, as the Uruguayan is looking for a way back to Italy. He knows Italian football well and had already said yes to Milan before joining the Gunners.

Finally, Benfica’s Florentino Luis remains an option. Milan tried to make an offer already in January but lacked Elliott’s go-ahead for the investment. In the summer, the price tag will most likely be lower.
