AC Milan are still pondering a potential move to bring Matteo Pessina back to the club, according to a report.
Pessina came through the youth academy at Milan but was sent to Atalanta back in 2017 as part of the operation that saw Andrea Conti move the other way, and in the last couple of seasons at Hellas Verona (on loan) and in Bergamo he has begun to impress.
According to Calciomercato.com, Atalanta have put a wall up for the moment and do not intend to sell him, and they have even already found an agreement for the renewal of the contract until 2023 which will be made official soon.
Despite this, the outlet claims – because of excellent performances like his one against Wales in the European Championships where he scored the winner – that the ‘phone will soon start ringing’. Milan keep thinking about the 24-year-old and it is not excluded that they may try to bring him back, especially because they can get him at half price due to the fact they included a 50% resale clause as part of the deal that sent him to Bergamo.
It is a favourable solution, but one that is not destined to last forever because the clause is automatically removed once the playmaker hits 100 appearances with La Dea. Pessina is still at 59, so if Maldini wants him, he can’t wait long.
