CM: Milan ready to go all-in on Monaco midfielder with price tag established

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are looking to reinforce the midfield this summer, above all the defensive side of things, and several names have been mentioned. According to a report, Youssouf Fofana of Monaco is the primary target as things stand.

The Rossoneri conceded a whopping 49 goals in Serie A last season and a lot of that can be attributed to a lack of balance. As such, with Paulo Fonseca now ready to start his tenure, the management wants to give him a defensive midfielder.

As Mats Wieffer has officially joined Premier League side Brighton, Milan are now ready to focus all of their efforts on Youssouf Fofana, according to An offer of €20m will be needed to convince Monaco and considering that Wieffer went for €30m, this must be considered as a fair number.

Adrien Rabiot has also been linked with the Rossoneri and per the report, Geoffrey Moncada and Giiorgo Furlani remain vigilant on the player. However, it’s an operation that remains very complicated and it’s not an arrival that the Milan fans should be expecting.

Fofana is currently at the Euros with France, who have qualified for the semi-finals, and this could perhaps delay the negotiations a bit.

  1. “it’s an operation that remains very complicated”

Not really. Just offer what they current owners want and agree on the salary. That’s it. It’s not rocket science and it surely won’t require a 3-month waiting period.

    1. meaning, they have multiple scenarios where money is different. If someone comes along and pays for Leao, then the outlook changes. If in the midfield, they get rid of Bennacers salary, things are different. If they can get off of Florenzi’s salary, things change…it changes both the money that can be spent on players and the contracts they an afford to match as well as the playing time the player may expect. My guess is that Ribiot would rely mostly on selling Bennacer given the salary he would demand.

  2. They’re gonna keep trying to lower the price more and more like always and Monaco won’t accept until a different club comes in and pays the real price and steals him away

  3. Milan management under this stupid American owner will soon fight for relegation.
JUVENTUS ve made strong moves in the transfer market.
Inter milan are very strong and still acquiring woeld Class players.
Roma are trying to get Chiesa and remember with their new coach they look very strong.
Atlanta won the UEFA Cup they re strong & Zaniola is going there…

Little wonder why Theo & Maignan want out….the new Milan management re not interested in winning

    1. Relegation? The team that finished 2nd last season will fight for relegation soon? Highly unlikely.

Zaniolo going to Atalanta isn’t making Atalanta stronger. Quite the opposite.

Theo & Mike want out? Then why are they negotiating and close to renewal then?
