AC Milan have once again been mentioned among the clubs that are interested in signing Venezia sensation Issa Doumbia.
Milan have been linked above all with Leon Goretzka in their pursuit of a new midfielder ahead of 2026-27. However, more than one signing could arrive, and the recent links with the likes of Manu Kone and Ismael Kone suggest that a potential Youssouf Fofana replacement is being sought.

Doumbia in demand
Calciomercato.com report that Issa Doumbia is on Milan’s radar. He has played as the central lynchpin in the 3-5-2 formation used by Giovanni Stroppa, but despite this he has racked up eight goals and five assists. He has a contract expiring in 2029, but he’s in the sights of at least five top clubs.
Doumbia is a player who – thanks to excellent technique and a strong physique – can easily fill any midfield role. He can operate either in his current deeper-lying role, as a box-to-box player or even as a physical playmaker behind the strikers.
His role model has always been Paul Pogba, as he revealed: “My father instilled in me the idea of football as a reference, but I take inspiration from Pogba. Physical strength and running are my strengths, and if I had to choose an ideal role, I’d say right midfielder in a three-man midfield.”
After winter interest from clubs like Club Brugge and Paris FC, Doumbia has now found himself in the sights of even bigger clubs. In Serie A, Inter, Milan, Roma and Napoli are interested, but in Portugal Benfica (ready to offer €15m plus bonuses) and Sporting CP are keen.
