CM: Milan and Fiorentina remain in the running as Berardi asks Sassuolo for sale

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of two teams who remain in the running to land Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo, according to a report.

Milan have been repeatedly linked with a move for Berardi over the past few weeks as it is no secret that they want to reinforce the attack with some quality, especially on the right wing where Samu Castillejo appears to no longer be part of the club’s plans.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Sassuolo are simply waiting for the right offer to sell Berardi and will not say no to the sale of the Italy international, despite the fact another star man in Manuel Locatelli has already left for Juventus.

Berardi has asked for a move and is looking for the right destination, with Milan and Fiorentina remaining the two most plausible destinations as things stand at present. Could there be a late twist in the tale for Berardi and for the Rossoneri?

  1. Having watched the Sampdoria game, I would say we’re in much greater need of offensive production on the RW than in the middle. I reall appreciate Saelemaeker’s hard running, but he’s not a player that can create and score. More than a few good crossing opportunities were not capitalized because either his timing is off, or the cross is just not good enough. He will be great when we need to defend a lead, or if we’re playing a team we expect to lose the possession battle to. Bring in Berardi over Silva, if a choice has to be made. We desperately need assists and goals from RW. We can manage in at AMC for another year as is. Worst case scenario if Brahim goes down we can try Pobega there, or push Bennacer higher. HOWEVER, if Pioli is thinking about employing a 3-5-2 (or 3-5-1-1) then it ought to be Silva over Berardi. We’re fully covered in the wing back positions and would definitely need another creative attacking midfielder.

    1. As a matter of fact, if the Bernardo Silva rumors are true and the club can find a way to make this happen then maybe he should be the primary objective vs. Berardi, but only in the event of a Kessie departure. If Kessie leaves then any money gained will need to be used towards another CM plus Silva, as the spine of the team will have been weakened. Pioli in this case ought to use the 3-4-1-2 more often, with Roma, Kjaer, Tomori across the back, Theo and Cala as wingbacks, Tonali and Bennacer as CMs, Silva as AMC in support of Rebic/Leao (Ibra) and Giroud. The team would still retain the flexibility to play 4-2-3-1, as Silva can move to the right with Brahim in the middle.

  2. Well Juventus borrowed Locatelli from Sassuolo for free! They are gonna pay after two years so I don’t know why we can’t do the same?
