CM: Milan and Juventus wait as tension builds between Zaniolo and Roma – the latest

Nicolo Zaniolo’s future at Roma continues to be the subject of speculation and AC Milan are waiting for developments, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Zaniolo has asked for an increase in salary to the level of Lorenzo Pellegrini and Tammy Abraham in order to renew his contract with Roma which is expiring in 2024, and therefore no less than €5m net per season.

Francesco Totti also intervened to advise the player to stay but he remains adamant that the alternative to renewing is that he leaves the club. Roma do not believe he should be up there with his top earners and are willing to offer a pay increase, but not that substantial.

His agent Vigorelli spoke with Tiago Pinto yesterday and there was not much progress, while Roma are willing to sell for €50-60m and will not lower that figure despite the fact no club has even come close to that amount.

Milan and Juventus have tried to insert some counterparts in their initial enquiries and a cash amount, but their offers were considered low by Roma. No official bids have arrived and they could come from the Premier League, yet Zaniolo does not want to move abroad.

The entourage of the former Inter player are convinced that Roma’s demands will soften over the weeks, especially because in the meantime Pinto is looking at potential replacements like Domenico Berardi as well as Guedes from Valencia.
