CM: Milan already plotting big striker investment – Jovic has a year to convince

Luka Jovic has a whole season to convince the AC Milan management, but in the mean time they are looking ahead to making a big investment on a striker.

As Calciomercato.com reports, the plan for a major reinforcement in attack will only be postponed until next summer and the main target is already identified: Jonathan David of Lille.

Milan have been following David’s growth for at least two seasons through their scouting area. They like him a lot because they feel he has all the characteristics that can be enhanced with their current project.

He is still young and has room for further growth, he has a good eye for goal and he also works hard for the team. A pourparler took place in June but Lille made it clear they wanted €60m plus bonuses which cooled the Rossoneri’s immediate interest.

David is tied to Lille by a contract until 2025 which – if it is not renewed in the coming months – would allow Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada greater room for manoeuvre.

The Rossoneri CEO has excellent relations with the Ligue 1 club and is considering whether to try and secure David for next summer.

The 23-year-old has scored 61 goals in 141 games for Lille, adding 10 assists.

  1. Leao—David—Pulisic
Damnnn, this could actually be the best front 3 in the world one day. If Jovic is able to impress Pioli then he could replace Giroud in 1–3 years when Giroud decides to hang his boots.

  2. So make haste. Management should make personal agreement with this yank and his entourage before other clubs touch his butt. His value now is high and his wage must be quite high too. Unless he’s convinced with our promise to make him starter like usual 😀

  3. Hope that’s not an other Openda case and at the end we could secure his sign. Imagine Leao-David-Pulisic/Chuckwueze. This guy is like a Canadian Osimhen.

  4. Jovic only has a year to raise his own stock. Not sure if the plan going forward is to Keep Jovic as the new Giroud while investing in David as the prime CF? Or Jovic moves on, Giroud takes the back stage?

Is Giroud’s contract up next year do we know?

    1. I agree.
Hopefully Sesko can become an option next summer.
Not a fan of David. He is more of a 2nd striker than a #9.
Also, many of his goals are from penalties.

We might need a reliable penalty taker if Giroud leaves!

But yes someone like Sesko would arguably be better leading the line. He’s 1.90m+ while David is only 1.75m however it’s possible we morph from needing a true target man to a link player at striker.

Also depends on cost, a year is a long time players get injuries, form dips etc but David’s contract will have only 1 year remaining next summer, and that seems to be the sweet spot where Moncada likes to strike.

  5. Milan should look throughout the season
Gift Emmanuel Orban from KAA Gent
    Jonathan David from LOSC Lille
    Santiago Gimenez from Feyernoord
Raul De Tomas from Rayo Vallecano
    Enes Unal from Getafe CF
idk Gaetan Laborde from OGC Nice or Terem Moffi
Amine Giouri from Stade Rennais or Arnaud Kalimuendo?
    Youssef En Nesyri from Sevilla
    Boulaye Dia from Salermitana?

    1. only 2 of those are viable. Orban and Gimenez and im not sure about Gimenez 2 be honest and Orban is more a winger than an ST

  6. We need to get use to this by now: every year after each transfert windows, we heard that milan will do this and that.
And at the end, we only get the like of jovic, giroud, origi, zlatan at 40 yearsold, etc…
People want us to believe that giroud is a big time player….
