CM: Milan camp split on future of €45m man as Benfica and Fiorentina circle

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management are split regarding the future of midfielder Lucas Paqueta, a report claims, with uncertainty regarding his position in the project.

It has been a difficult last few months for Paqueta who has found himself slipping down the pecking order amid reports he is struggling with life away from football and after repeated links with a January exit.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Milan have invested a total of around €45million on Paqueta when including the transfer fee paid to Flamengo to sign him last year plus bonuses and other fees.

Now, his valuation is much lower: around €28.5m. The Brazil international divides Milan as one part of the sporting area have essentially placed a ‘for sale’ sign on the 22-year-old, while the other part are convinced that he has the talent to write a new chapter of his adventure in Italy.

Paqueta, so far, is not forcing his hand to leave, although he is aware that the interests of Fiorentina and Benfica could become real negotiations.

Milan meanwhile have made their stance clear for now; they want at least €30m to sell – and that money could be used on other targets such as Sandro Tonali – but they also like Florentino Luis of Benfica which could give the Portuguese side an advantage with regards to a swap deal.
