CM: Milan’s chances of landing Buongiorno rise – the details

AC Milan are seemingly destined to sign a central defender this summer, given the issues with the position this season. Today, a report has suggested that one of their favourites for the position may be more feasible than once imagined.

As reported, Simon Kjaer’s future is likely to be away from the club, and Pierre Kalulu could depart in the summer, given his persistent injuries this season. However, Milan’s desire to add to their defensive ranks has only grown this season, even after January, when Matteo Gabbia returned to the club.

Ahead of the January window, the Rossoneri were infatuated with Alessandro Buongiorno, and their admiration for him has persisted, so the club will try again to sign him in the upcoming window. It was reported this morning that the defender is ready for the next step in his career, and Inter and the Diavolo lead the race, so there is a concrete possibility of him making a move.

However, Calciomercato.com have reported that his price has risen since the January window, and he will now cost €40 million, instead of the quoted €30-35m price in the January mercato. There is also Premier League interest, but he is believed to prefer a move to an Italian side than anywhere else.

It is also worth noting that earlier in the season, he was offered a contract by Milan, and he did not reject it. Instead, he said he would not go behind the back of the club he loves, and this could play to the Rossoneri’s benefit, especially if their interest has grown.
