CM: Milan send clear response to Roma over Okafor amid exchange deal rumours

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have made it clear that Noah Okafor will not be part of any negotiations with Roma for Tammy Abraham, it is claimed, while there are no intentions to sell him either.

Okafor came on in the second half of last night’s friendly against Barcelona and looked very lively off the bench in his preseason debut, but there was a cloud hanging over him regarding his future and a potential exchange deal with Roma.

Corriere dello Sport were among the sources to report that Okafor is of interest to the Giallorossi as they look to explore a potentially mutually beneficial operation with Milan which would involve Tammy Abraham going the other way.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, however, Okafor is not on the market. Roma do indeed like him but Milan ‘are not open to including him’ in the possible Abraham deal, because they wish to keep him.

In his first season at the club after joining from Red Bull Salzburg, the Swiss forward netted six goals in the league and became a real impact player because those goals turned the results into five wins and a draw.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed yesterday that Fonseca considers him an interesting asset for the attacking department and would ‘like to make him his Rossonero Jonathan David’.

  1. I hope that’s true, but it really doesn’t seem like we have any idea what we do want from Okafor. If he’s not the third striker or second left winger….. what is he?

    1. Young and developing? I found it suspicious he got little time in the Euros.

Insurance? Atalanta had to overspend on Retigui because Scamacca got injured. Ok4 is depth against Leao and Salad having a knock at same time.

This is just some supposition on my part.

The notion that this is a young player with no defined role puts him in the same leaky boat as Musah and Terraciano. I like the way it was phrased, “What do we want from him”

      1. Thats harsh on Okafor, comparing him to Musah and terraciano, I know what you mean about confusion over position.
Okafor has done very well without ever getting a run in the team, he is good on the left and looks like he could be a real weapon at striker, fast, skillful, good finishing.
I expect a lot from him

        1. Yeah I didn’t intend a comparison of the h individuals (I agree that he is much better) just their situation.

Like th assessment of LK4 you give as well.

  2. i dont really know maybe a cf or a lw i feel he is better than saelemakers and that he has pace decent finishing but i feel abraham deel is just a waste of money

  3. Likes to make him the Rossonero Jonathan David?
Just let Okafor take the penalties for Milan and you already have the Rossonero Jonathan David.
    Okafor is better.

  4. I see okafor as another striker cause he’s multiple roll playing player up front so we need him more than Tammy Abraham.
