CM: Milan’s management considering Scuffet against ‘internal solution’ – the details

After suffering a hand injury, Marco Sportiello will be out of action for some time. As a result, AC Milan are rethinking their mercato actions, and there is an internal debate occurring.

There is never a good time for injuries to occur, but for them to occur during the mercato is certainly preferred, as it allows clubs a chance to invest in a replacement when needed, and this could be something Milan take advantage of.

In the hotel before the game against Manchester City, Sportiello suffered a serious injury which will leave him sidelined for several months, leaving the club with only one first-team goalkeeper at the present moment – Mike Maignan.

Now, the question is about what must be done for the club to cope without another senior goalkeeper. As has been reported in the past few days, Simone Scuffet is being considered for the role after a fantastic season.

According to Calciomercato.com, he has reached a ‘maturity and technical completeness’ which is why he is being considered by the management, and he would be available on loan with the option to buy should the Rossoneri choose to.

However, Cagliari are requesting €500k for a loan deal to happen, which the management is contesting. It is the price which is leading them to debate about the future, and Giogio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are evaluating an ‘internal solution’, which would mean giving a young goalkeeper an opportunity.

Reports after the game against the Citizens suggested that Torriani could be given a chance among the first team, and perhaps he may be. However, it seems that Scuffet is the primary option at the moment.
