CM: Milan and the latest on ten contract situations – from Calabria to Krunic

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will be looking to add a few players to the squad during the January transfer window and plans have also started for the summer. However, in addition to signing new players, they also need to lock down some of the current ones.

The Rossoneri’s injury struggles have gone from bad to worse lately and that’s why reinforcements are expected already in January. Of course, a solution to the underlying problem will also have to be found, otherwise the trend will continue.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, ten contract situations deserve a bit more attention as we approach the summer. Not just those expiring in 2024, but also players with longer deals will be discussed as a few pay rises are on the cards.

Antonio Mirante (expires in 2024): This season will be his last with Milan, at the age of 40, and he will have to make the most out of them – as he did against Juventus.

Simon Kjaer (2024): The Dane is keen on ending his career with the Rossoneri but the latter will wait until the end of the season before making a decision. Everything will be decided on the pitch, as always.

Mattia Caldara (2024): He could leave in January, as Milan want to get him off the wage bill, and it’s possible he could leave for a free or a nominal fee.

Davide Calabria (2025): He remains an important player as the captain of the team and the idea is to renew the contract by at least one year, until 2026. There will likely also be a pay rise involved.

Alessandro Florenzi (2025): Milan believe the veteran is a very useful player, especially for the squad list, and they don’t intend to let him leave before the end of the contract. Whether he will renew or not, however, is a different question.

Theo Hernandez (2026): His renewal is not a priority currently given that his current deal runs until 2026, but a renewal could indeed be on the cards. At the end of the season, an evaluation will be made by the parties.

Rade Krunic (2025): Milan have already met with the player’s entourage over a renewal but no agreement was found. A summit will take place at the start of 2024 to take stock of the situation, but the intention is to continue together.

Yacine Adli (2026): He’s certainly not a priority either given the deadline, but impressive performances could lead to a pay rise. An exit cannot be ruled out either, which is why the parties will sit down in the summer to discuss the future.

Olivier Giroud (2024): Milan are thinking about a one-year renewal and talks have already begun, with the Frenchman giving priority to the Rossoneri. It remains to be seen if they will decide to continue together.

Luka Jovic (2024): Everything will depend on his performances. Milan will not keep him if it continues like this, with zero goals and zero assists so far.
