CM: Milan ready for defensive investment this summer – the targets

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are ready to invest in their defence this summer after missing out on multiple targets during the January transfer window and there are a number of targets that they could pursue.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, plenty of talented defenders have been linked with Milan over the past few months and many of them could be approached in the summer over a move.

As things stand, the primary target appears to be Alessandro Buongiorno. The Torino defender was targeted in January but it was clear that Torino president Urbano Cairo was not going to let him go mid-season without a very high price being paid.

He will listen to offers in the summer, though, and Milan will be among the frontrunners to sign the Italy international.

Another potential option is Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix. He has been linked with a number of top sides over the past two years and may be ready to make the move this summer.

Stade Brest’s Lillian Brassier looked genuinely close to signing for Milan in January but the French side did not want a loan move, whilst Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham is out of contract this summer and would be a free option. The same can be said for Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.

  1. Where does Buongiorno play? Backup to Tomori at LCB? He’s too good to be a backup. Does he start LCB and start Tomori RCB? Will we miss Tomori’s pace which he uses to cover for Theo when he pushes forward? Buongiorno would be a solid signing but I’m not sure where he would play
