CM: New Milan derby set for Monza goalkeeper after impressive season

AC Milan and Inter could be set to battle it out for Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio this summer with the shot-stopper having a very good campaign.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, both Milan signs could provide a landing spot not far from home for Di Gregorio who is expected to be Monza’s best chance of turning a big profit this summer.

Inter have a more pressing need to sign a goalkeeper as they currently have the 35-year-old Yann Sommer as their first choice. He has impressed this season but is not the long-term replacement for Andre Onana.

Di Gregorio actually developed at Inter but was eventually sold permanently to Monza for around €4m. He now has a market value of €20m which means Monza could be in for a serious capital gain.

Milan are also in the frame for Di Gregorio as the sale of French goalkeeper Mike Maignan cannot be ruled at this point. He has been attracting interest and unless a new contract is agreed on, bids will almost certainly arrive for him this summer.

The focus is certainly still on renewing the contract of Maignan, but Di Gregorio would be a safe and affordable option to replace him.
