CM: Milan could drop pursuit of West Ham striker and pay €10m clause instead

AC Milan are in search of a new striker ahead of the upcoming season and many names have been linked with the club. Gianluca Scamacca appears to be the favourite, but Alvaro Morata is quickly gathering steam.

Milan have said goodbye to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and are also expected to part ways with Ante Rebic this summer. A new striker will thus be needed, seeing as Olivier Giroud cannot play every single game from start to finish.

According to Calciomercato.com, Stefano Pioli and the Rossoneri would prefer to sign West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer. They are willing to offer a paid loan with an option to buy, but the English side have not opened to this solution yet.

As a result, Milan also have Alvaro Morata as a Plan B and are now seriously considering paying the €10m release clause in his contract. Even though the Spaniard is a lot older than Scamacca (24) at 31, it would be a cheaper deal.
