CM: Milan evaluating €10m Sassuolo striker as Jovic’s replacement – the details

By Ben Dixon -

In the latter stages of 2023 into the early stages of 2024, Luka Jovic shone for AC Milan and provided key goals in vital moments. However, his future is not yet decided, with the club looking at alternative options.

This season, Jovic has suffered from the same syndrome that Milan have. In some key moments, he has been exceptional, scoring for fun, and enjoying himself. Nevertheless, there have been several spells where he has not been able to produce when it has mattered.

Given Olivier Giroud has been the man this year, Jovic entered the club knowing he would be second fiddle to the Frenchman, and he has been just that, but even in his best moments, when the veteran struggled, and the Serbian often picked up the pieces, he was rarely given the chance to start games.

With that in mind, there is now a decision to make this summer, with his contract expiring. Reports in recent months have suggested that the club are open to a new deal for him, but there may now have been a turnaround.

Calciomercato.com suggests that evaluations are taking place about his future, and he could be replaced by Andrea Pinamonti, who plays for relegated side, Sassuolo. The relegation of the Neroverdi opens an idea, powered by a lower price tag.

With 11 goals this season, he clearly has the quality needed, and he would contribute to the Serie A and Champions League requirements, offering further interest from Milan. His demands are likely to be more than €2.4 million net per season, and his club value him at €10m, but with relegation, this may be lowered.

  1. I hope we keep jovic as i think he has made a stay deserved.

On a sidenote I can see former ac milan player Karl-Heinz Schnellinger has died yesterday.

    1. Serbian has shown that he can score but in a two-striker system. Not sure if Milan will play that next season and under which coach.

Might be more of the same for Jovic moving forward.

Pinamonti though is a good option of the bench as well.

      1. he has also scored while being the only attacker on field so i think its a bit of a truth with modifications but i get what you are saying and i doubt that any decisions will be made before a new coach is hired but even then jovic is good of the bench.

Nothing against pinamonti but i would pick lucca instead if the choice was mine.

      1. still it doesnt really corelate with reality because if the article is to be believed then pinamonti would want above 2.4 mil a year while the player also has to be bought and i doubt ten mil would be enough. jovic earns around 2.5 mil a year and we can just automatically renew him so keeping the serbian would still be more cost efficient.
In the end i would prefer lucca who most likely will come cheaper and with more promise. Put a bit more weight on the kid and he will be difficult to handle.

  2. Solid alternative to Jovic, they should come to similar costs if the figures are true.

I don‘t think we can go wrong with either as back up striker, and this surely not something that wil likely decide a season.

  3. Sign Sesko and Pinamonti. Keep Jovic. We are losing Giroud.

Anyways, I smirked a bit seeing Sassuolo being relegated. They always annoyed me and gave Milan trouble when we played against them.

  4. So Jovic made 9 goals and 1 assist on all competitions which some of them are very important goal. But the management still thinks that’s not enough to give him a new contract? Holy fvck.

  5. Pls keep Jovic. He has developed to be the main striker in my opinion. Let’s study him for half season. Then, the management can make evaluation. He deserves to stay now

  6. Most of the time when Jovic started, all the players that should provide service for him didn’t start. He would be much better ifhe wasn’t set up to fail…
