CM: Milan hoping to raise €15m from sale of two defenders as Genoa open talks

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan may be able to offload two unwanted defenders as Genoa have begun talks, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com writes how one of the most difficult tasks for Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini during the upcoming summer window will be to sell players that are no longer considered part of the project. Diego Laxalt is all set to join Dynamo Moscow with only signatures on the documents missing, so now attention will turn to Andrea Conti and Mattia Caldara, who have returned to base after their respective loans at Parma and Atalanta.

Genoa are keen on Conti and their manager Ballardini put his name forward to club president Enrico Preziosi. The right-back, linked to Milan with a contract until 2022, is a concrete idea for Genoa who have already started contacts with the player’s entourage.

Mattia Caldara could also end up joining the Rossoblu as Genoa are ahead of Cagliari and Verona in the race for the central defender. Milan hope to receive from these two potential sales €15m.
