CM: Milan and Inter both still monitoring Porto star with expiring deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Mehdi Taremi may not be having the best of seasons for Porto but he continues to be decisive for his national team Iran, and AC Milan are keeping a close eye on him.

Geoffrey Moncada and the Milan management are studying the idea of signing a striker as early as the January transfer window, given that Noah Okafor is currently considered more to be Rafael Leao’s replacement on the left while Luka Jovic is yet to make any real contribution.

Olivier Giroud cannot work overtime, and during the summer window Taremi was heavily linked with a move to Milan to become his deputy or even potentially his replacement in terms of being the main starter, given the Frenchman is now 37.

The move collapsed late on because of changes in requests over personal terms as per widespread reports, but Taremi’s deal expires at the end of the season and the Rossoneri’s need for a striker has not gone away.

Iran beat Hong Kong 4-0 in their 2026 World Cup qualifier today and among the protagonists of the match were Sardar Azmoun of Roma and Taremi of Porto.

According to Calciomercato.com, Inter and Milan are keeping an eye on the 31-year-old in view of the January transfer window, and he also scored in the rout.

After scoring 22 league goals last season and 20 the season before that, 2023-24 has not been as kind to Taremi so far as he has scored just twice in 11 Liga Portugal games.
