CM: Milan vs. Inter is Theo vs. Dimarco – how their numbers stack up

By Oliver Fisher -

The tie between AC Milan and Inter will see two of the best attacking left-backs in Italian football go head to head, with Theo Hernandez and Federico Dimarco ready to face off.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Milan beat Lazio and Inter beat Roma over the weekend, with Theo scoring the second for the Rossoneri and Dimarco netting the opening goal for the Nerazzurri.

The two players who play on the same flank, but they play two different roles with Dimarco more of a wing-back known for late runs and Theo a full-back who often drifts into midfield and can take the ball the length o fthe pitch.

The Frenchman has 4 goals and 5 assists in 39 appearances, which is an excellent return for a player who is part of the defensive line. Meanwhile, Dimarco has registered 6 goals and 8 assists in all competitions, better than his Milan opponent in both statistics but with much more of a free reign at wing-back.

Theo, has not yet contributed to any goal in all 11 games played in his career against Inter, in which he collected three yellow cards and one red card. He has three wins, one draw and seven defeats against the Nerazzurri.

Dimarco has fared a little better as he has two wins, three draws and three defeats but he did score in the Supercoppa derby in Saudi Arabia.

  1. I agree that numbers reflect different positions in the system, but we should stress that Theo’s numbers are worse than last year…
