CM: Milan joined by Napoli in race to land €40m-rated Arsenal star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been joined by Napoli in the race to sign midfielder Lucas Torreira from Arsenal, according to the latest reports.

The Rossoneri were heavily linked with a move for Torreira over the summer when Marco Giampaolo was head coach, as the pair had worked together at Sampdoria.

Di Marzio was even quoted as saying that the Uruguay international wanted the move and Torreira fuelled the speculation by claiming he much preferred life in Italy compared with living in England.

Ultimately though he ended up staying as the Gunners reportedly slapped a price tag of at least €40million on the former Sampdoria man.

However, TMW – as cited by MilanNews.it – recently claimed that Torreira is ‘not happy’ with his current situation at Arsenal due to the fact he is being played out of position, and is set for crunch talks over his future, with Milan interested again.

According to Calciomercato.com, Napoli have also joined the race to land the Uruguayan, a player their president Aurelio Di Laurentiis is described as being a personal fan of.

Their alternatives reportedly include Berge of Genk and the Almendra of Boca Juniors.
