CM: Milan legend in line for Monza job with Palladino set to leave

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta could become the new Monza coach for next season with Raffaelle Palladino expected to leave the club.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, Monza CEO Adriano Galliani is keen to be reunited with Nesta and feels that the former Milan defender could be the right man to replace the outgoing Palladino.

There is no official confirmation that Palladino is leading Monza but the widespread belief is that he has done all he can with the team who currently sit in mid-table.

There is a chance that Palladino will replace Thiago Motta at Bologna if Motta were to join Juventus or AC Milan in the summer. Nesta played for Milan between 2002 and 2012 and he then moved into a coaching capacity.

He has been in the dugout at Miami FC, Perugia, Frosinone and Reggiana, which is where he is under contract until the end of the current season.

They are currently 12th in the Serie B standings which means they are not likely to get into the promotion play-offs, but should also avoid relegation to Serie C.

What is certain is that the Monza job would be a step up for Nesta and were Galliani to offer it, he would almost certainly say yes.
