CM: Milan preparing to make first movement in pursuit of Premier League striker

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are ready to make their first serious move for a new striker as they seek to sign Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham United, a report claims.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri are in a bad patch of the summer transfer window where they have seen Sandro Tonali depart for Newcastle and Marcus Thuram seemingly choose a move to Inter over Milan.

The club knows that they need a physically strong striker who can rotate with Olivier Giroud and ideally replace him as the primary source of goals during the season.

Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada have fallen on Scamacca, the West Ham striker linked with many clubs this summer. They are ready to start conversations with West Ham to get the ball rolling.

The issue is that West Ham will not let him leave on loan as they paid €36 million for him only a year ago. AS Roma have already had a loan approach rejected.

  1. “They are ready to start conversations with West Ham to get the ball rolling.”

Translation: They will think about contacting West Ham next month and then they’ll calculate the figures and maybe even ask WH how much they want for him. Then after hearing the request they’ll wait and calculate more and when they’re finally ready to make the first offer, it’s September already and Scamacca has scored his first hattrick for Roma.

    1. Nobody will pay the transfer fee for him, maybe Milan. Do you seriously think Milan should offer 30M for a guy that was injured most of the last season and had half of a good season in Serie A? It would be better to get Lukaku for similar money. When they sign him at least I’ll be able to tell you “I told you so” when he fails again…

      1. Scammacca should be signed only on loan with OPTION to buy, so he can go back to West Ham next season. They know that will happen as they had him with them for a year and saw him close up, so they aren’t allowing that option…

      2. “Do you seriously think Milan should offer 30M”

Now show me where I wrote anything that even remotely suggested such thing?

        1. It is a question. You know the ?, that comes at the end of a question. Usually you answer, and not with another question. Try that sometimes. 😀

I can guess your reply to this one now, no need.

      3. They should. Well maybe not 30mil but 25 is good. You ain’t finding a better striker for cheaper this days. Retegui is the only one who can come for cheaper since his clause is 18mil, but Milan don’t want him. So either you pay, or you are staying only with 37year old Girioud.

        1. Exactly this. Man City is not selling Halland for 5 million, a phone call from Pioli and a burger with Jerry.
Strikers are super expensive, missing out on CL because of lack of firepower up front is more expensive.

  2. West ham only want straight purchase or loan but obligation to buy. If ACM serious ,can do first offer test westham 5m euro loan with obligation to buy 20m euro at the end of season

  3. These articles tell a strage, half part of the story.

Scamacca has already agreed personal terms with Roma. The hold up isn’t a loan per se it’s Roma’s preferred formulation of a loan with an option. West Ham want an obligation.

With all our dithering I suspect it’s already a lost cause.

If you want Scamacca you had the freedom to structure how to pay for him. I imagine splitting the cost over two seasons is probably a really useful thing.
