CM: Milan must buckle up and spend to compete – De Paul and Vlahovic perfect

Milan secured their return to the Champions League on the final matchday of the 2020/21 season, putting an end to seven years of disappointment. However, now they need to prepare for what will be a tough season.

As Alberto Cerruti highlights in his latest piece for Calciomercato.com, Milan need to demonstrate their intentions with signings. If the Champions League is just a starting point for the club, then evidence is needed to prove this.

For example, besides the old age of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, bringing in Olivier Giroud will hardly solve the future aspect. Neither will it be such a significant upgrade, as the journalist continues. The right man could thus be Dusan Vlahovic instead.

In addition to the Serbian, Rodrigo De Paul would be a great addition to this team. Sure, the €40m have put Milan off a bit, but spending is needed to improve the team. That is, of course, unless you just go for youngster labelled as ‘talents’, also known as gambles.

Securing Champions League qualification is worth around €50m and the Rossoneri will also be able to offload a few players this summer. Therefore, Elliott Management need to show their true colours and invest in this perfect moment.
